RALLY STAR DRIVES 205 MPH ON ICE

This past February, four time World Rally Championship winner Juha Kankkunen drove a Bentley Continental Supersports convertible 205.48 mph on the frozen Baltic Sea off the coast of Finland. This set a new world speed record on ice. While doing so, he broke his own record set in 2007 of 199.83 mph in a Bentley Continental GT.

The all-wheel-drive Bentley Supersports has a 6.0 liter W12 engine that runs on bio-fuel. The temperatures were as low as minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit with snow blizzards and high crosswinds on the 100 mile track on 27.6 inches of sea ice.

The distance driven was 1,000 meters, and the speed was certified by officials from the Finland Traffic Police. Two runs were completed in opposite directions, and the speeds were ratified by a representative from the Guinness World Records.

Who new a Bentley would be the optimum choice for driving on ice?
